- Recycling tips on Long Island
- Recycle your shredded paper by bringing it to the North Shore Animal League, 25 Davis Avenue, Port Washington. They use it in litter boxes!
- Town of North Hempstead will accept more types of discarded plastics, not only items labeled 1 and 2. The town will now take plastics numbered 4, 5, and 6. The expansion affects residents where the town has contracted with garbage haulers.
- North Hempstead's S.T.O.P. (Stop Throwing Out Pollutants) program now offers paper shredding and donation services for clothing and household good, in addition to safe disposal of hazardous materials, e-waste and pharmaceuticals.
